69 brake booster

I have a bad power brake booster in a 1969 Mach 1 CJ . I can't find any factory replacments only a place to send mine in to be rebuilt. Do most people just go with an aftermarket or who should i send mine in to have it rebuilt, or can i buy one and from what vendor ?

Just so i'm testing it right I hooked a vacuum gauge and it would not pull any vacuum. Changed the master cylinder still no peddle and won't stop very good.

Thanks any help appreciated

Re: 69 brake booster

I had similar problem with my 1970. It worked, but not good. More problems with the actual master cylinder fitting the assigned location.

Was told this item was still in stock at and Ford agency, and that was bumm information. I found the guy in Kentucky advertising parts, but gone when he got my order about one week later. Then found someone in Eastern time zone, he did not sell parts, but instead rebuilt them. I sent it there then. Is now hissing again, after three years of use.

Re: 69 brake booster

Advance has Cardone remans for under $100...

Bendix style

Midland (band clamp) style

FWIW, if you have no pedal, then it's probably air in the lines, not the booster. A bad booster normally will give you a rock hard pedal.

Did you bench bleed the new master before installation? Have you bled the lines completely? Are the rear brakes adjusted up 'til there is a slight drag on the drums? Are your calipers on the correct sides (bleeders pointing toward rear of car)?.......
