Re: Engine & Tranny Installation

Just because your engine has been bored doesn't mean it is a short block. Do you have the heads on the block? I have pulled and replaced the engine/transmission in my 65 as a unit alone. The front wheels were on ramps and the transmission tailshaft was on a floor jack. It takes longer alone but can be very easy with a helper. I switched the transmission to a toploader and after I was finished I think it would have been easier to pull the engine again.

Hi 60smuscle

From what I've and guys in my club say and "Short Block" is just the engine block alone with NOTHING ATTACHED 2 IT.

And that's how my engine is right now. And of course a LONG BLOCK IS; With ALL ATTACHEMENT ON THE ENGINE. Example: Carb(s) Valves/Lifters, Air Filter, etc. etc.

Thank 4 your impute
GOD BLESS

Re: Engine & Tranny Installation

Just for information, if you have a Summit, Jegs, or any catalog of that type you will find that a block is just the block, a short block has the crank, rods and pistons, and sometimes the cam and timing gear, while a long block has everything except the carb and accessories installed. Then you have the turnkey engine that has everything and all you need to do is install it, add the bolt-ons and you are ready to go. Have you installed your engine and transmission yet?
