Starting problems with 1970 Mach 1

My Mustang has the 351C and is about 95% original factory. The only thing I replaced is the Alternator, Fuel Pump and the points. Once I get it cranked it runs great. My problem is it won’t start in the morning until I use starter fluid. Once I get it running it will crank right up for the rest of the day. The next morning its starts all over again. What gives?

is the choke working? Simple test, put a rag or plastic bowl etc the carb throat - crank it and see if it fires.

Re: Starting problems with 1970 Mach 1

Since it is a carb, you are doing the old school starting proceedure before cranking it, right? Push the pedal to the floor and let it off, then hit the starter. That pumps some fuel in and sets the chock on the carb first. If that isn't working, tomorrow before you even try and start it, take the air cleaner lid off and move the carb linkage checking to see if the acc pump is pumping fuel and the choke is setting. Then go from there.
