will a 351 fit in a Mustang II

I have a 77 with a 302 in it and has been sitting for 10 years and doesn't run worth sh*t. My neighbor has a 351 clevland in an old van that is a 74 and i am wonderin if this 351 will fit in my mustang. Any thoughts would be great.
thanks

A 351 can be made to work in a Mustang II. Engine mounts and bellhousing pattern are the same, but exhaust and acc. brackets will be different.

If the van you're speaking of has the original engine, it won't be a 351 Cleveland, it will be likely be a 351 Windsor. 351C engines were never used in trucks, the closest were the 351M tall-deck variants that would not be a good choice for something small like your Mustang II.

cheers

He said that the engine was new and said it was rebuilt. He was also very sure it was a 351c. but then again he could be mixed up.
thanks

Unless someone other than Ford put it in there, the van doesn't have a 351C.

Did a 351C 4v Swap in a II Many years ago. Used a Total Performance, Swap Kit (Headers / Motor Plate), Made My own oilpan (hacked up a Milodon Pan). To make a story short, 5.14's, 4 speed 12.5:1, tunnel ram......... Was a total tire burner !! First 1/8 was a ride !! So yes it can be done and has been.

the 351 C compared to a 351 W is like comparing a 3.0 V6 to a 5.4 V-8... the Cleveland is..... Bigger....

Sure is, if its a 351w should be a looser fit. Still need to work on headers and an oil pan. If its a 351M why bother........
