check out towing companies and wrecking yards, for abandoned rides, preferance is towards F-Series trucks, with 5.8L in them, AOD\'S are the catsif you do a fairly simple reprograming of the valve body to change the shift patern, from 1,2-3,OD to 1,2,3-OD, thats if you want to run a slush box, 3.55 - 3.73, are pretty good all round if you realy like to tour with your ride, smoke em on demand ,you could go with a couple turbos. pick a parts are the answer on a tight budget.

G'day

I own a 93 LX Hatchback that the 302 was replaced with a modified 351W. Fits like a glove and looks like original factory. Don't forget that the deck height of the 351W is higher than the 302. Depending on what type of intake is used, you may have to modify your hood, i.e. hood scoop. I have a GT-40 efi intake on mine so I replaced the original hood with a Cervinis 4" Cowl type. That did the trick. MAC shorty headers were used along with standard H pipe and Flowmaster Mufflers. The AOD from the 302 was sent to LenTech to be rebuilt into the "Street Terminator" model.
Suspension has been modified. Ford racing 3.73 gears in a 8.8" rear end.
Best time at local track: Sept 10/05: 60ft- 2.143, 1/8-9.005, 1/4-14.006 at 99.382mph -- closed exhaust and 225/60R15 street tires and no traction.
Go for it because I'm sure you won't be sorry.
