BBK SSI Intake Question

Has anyone seen a third party evaluation of the BBK SSI Intake?

I am looking at putting a new intake on my 347 stroker. I would like to see a test between the BBK SSI and other intakes. Right now I am leaning towards the Performer II. I am putting this into a 95 GT.

I also plan to install new AFR 185s, MSD, new throttle body, and headers. My MAF is 70cfm with 24 lb injectors. The cam is a custom ground by the builder. I do have a spec sheet on the cam from crane cams.

Please let me know if any has seen any tests on the BBK SSI intake.

Thank You,

BBK SSI Intake Question

Hey, I'm a Super Ford reader. I remembered them doing a test or the SSI-R and the SSI. I checked there websight and in the tech articles its in there under SSI-R. Hope that helps you! -Scott

BBK SSI Intake Question

Thanks Scott!

I read that test article also. I was hoping to find some tests done by someone other then BBK. I would like to see an independent test group compare the BBK to other intakes through actual testing.

I think this would be a great shoot out article the top intakes available for the 5.0 in a Mustang and/or 5.0 magazine.

I like the looks of the BBK also. BBK stated it would fit under a 95 GT-R hood. That is the hood my sons want to put on our 95 GT so that would work for me.

I will post pointers in here to any test articles I find on the BBK SSI intake.

Thank You for the response.

BBK SSI Intake Question

I wouldnt use that intake on a 347 cubic inch motor.....its fine for a 302 but I dont see it supplying a 347....Id step up to a Victor 5.0 EFI intake or the TFS Box-R or the R-series.....

BBK SSI Intake Question

I was reading a post some guy put up on this other web site, and he was not happy about the bbk intake. He purchased it for his stang and had problems with the fuel lines leaking.Plus I think they are ugly as hell.

BBK SSI Intake Question

That is a Very Good Point! If they aren't being used at the track then why would I select one for my GT?

Re: BBK SSI Intake Question

I just got my ssi intake finished on my 5.0. It took some elbow grease but it finally worked out and I like it alot. I have seen some complaints about fuel leaks with this setup, and I will admit that it gave me some trouble with the injectors and the fuel rail connections. But my injectors were worn out and the o-rings shot so I got new ones and everything sealed up.

The intake will not fit under a stock hood, I would say you need at least a 2 1/2 and maybe even 3 inch cowl to clear. I have a Cobra R hood on mine. Since I got everything bolted on and put back together I am impressed. I can definitely feel an increase in performance, but I have to say that my old intake was very dirty and I'm sure it was restricted. So it is hard to say.

Basically I am very satisfied with my setup. With all my mods I am running somewhere in the area of 400 horse and everything seems to be working out great. I would suggest the SSI if you have the patience to work everything out.

Re: BBK SSI Intake Question

For a 347 with heads and cam I'd go a different route. Unless you've got a power-adder avoid the box-intakes and stick with the long runner designs or you'll kill the torque curve (whole point of a stroker right?)

Consider: Edelbrock RPM, RPM II, or Holley SysteMax for your combo.
