First apply all the free mods, timing, air filter, and then perform a complete tuneup(plugs, wires, cap, rotor). Best bang for your buck is a set of gears(AOD likes 4.10's). Then you can update as funds allow. Start with the exhaust, shorty headers, X or H pipe and 2 1/2" cat back system. Pullies are an option but I'm not a big fan of them. Electric fan is a good upgrade as is a larger ALT. After that, if the shortblock is in good health, you'll be looking into swapping out the intake, TB, MAF, injectors, then the next bottleneck is the stock heads.

I have that 514 crate motor right now and am getting ready to drop it in tomorrow night as a matter of fact. I have every thing but the master cylinder taken out of the engine compartment and it looks like it is going to be a tight fit. That motor fills the bay up like nobodys business!!! Good Luck,
Jim
