gear install

anyone know how to install new gears in a 8.8. i have read that u don't need the depth Gage if using ford gears but i would like some help on this thanks

I have a 95 gt aode,it had a 273.1 rear.I got a new 373.1 ford racing rear from summit for 780.00$.just slap it in and go,doing rear end gears is tricky not a good trial and error project.

You dont need a depth gauge, however you need a good caliper and a dial indicator with a mag mount. I have installed a ton and don't even know what a depth gauge looks like. Main thing is to make sure you have the new pinion gear set up with the exact thickness ( measure gear and shim ) as the old set up. Then check the backlash on the ring gear and make sure it is within the range of the spec. The hardest part is tightening the pinion nut. Take your time and you should have no problems.
