weld wheels with quad shocks

i want to put weld wheels on my 88 LX hatch, like a 15x8 or 15x9 ,for daily driving and keep the quad shocks, what would optimum tire size and wheel backspacing be. also what about 15x3 in front ,too small?

i just had mine off yesterday too, not sure what the backspacing was but it is a 15x8 rim. I run a mastercraft avenger g/t size 265/50-15 on the rear (just wide enough and ocassionally rubs just slightly on a hard bump) and the a 15x3 (or)4 rim in front with a discount tire i found...
Dayton quadra size 205/65-15

yes, im still running quad shocks, thats why i dont have a larger and wider tire on. if i hit a dip or speed bump fast enough, ill hit and slightly rub the q-shocks. Ill try to get you a backspace measurement for front and rear sometime tomorow

ok...fronts are 4" width with a 2" backspacing...i would recomend 2.5-3" though. i put new rotors and the dimensions were off, so the holding tabs for the pads were rubbing the rim.
the rears are 8" width with 5.5 backspacing, and i waas wrong, it doesnt hit the quads on hard bumps, its rubs the inner fenderwell...something good suspension upgrades can cure.

Go with a 15x5" wheel on the front and put sone 195 or 205's it much safer than trying to go with the really thin tires. If you going to do real street driving.

go with the 15 x 8 5.5back spacing if you ever had to you could always reverse the quad shack the opposite direction..

im going with on my 86 gt 15 x 10 6.5 back spacing

If you want the really skinny front drag look go with 165R15's on front with 15 x 4 wheels. But 15 x 5 with 205/70/15's will give the look without having to worry about every pot hole.
