rear end

i have an 5.0 85 mercury capri and was wondering what size rear end it has in it it has a t5 and i think posi how can i tell just by looking at it thanks

if it's the original rearend, it's a 7.5, and if the gears are original, there should ba a tag on the rear denoting the gear ratio, it will be held on by one of the bolts that holds the rear cover on... but that's not a definite way of telling, because someone could have put the tag back on, even though they changed the gears.... more of the tags i've seen, usually most of the "first" number of the gear ratio is covered up, but more often than not, you can still decipher the number, and if it is limited slip, there will be an "L" after the first number... more than likely, if it's stock, it's a 3.08....which will be 3L08 on the tag...
