High rpms between shifts.

1995 5.0 5spd. While shifting, the rpms do not drop off as they would with a carburated motor. Any suggestions to get the rpms down between shifts? I hope this isnt normal. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Could be your IAC hanging up.Where does it idle in neutral, when hot?

High rpms between shifts.

I noticed today that the rpms increase when I shift between gears, as I go through neutral, also while I am stopped at a traffic light, the rpms fluctuate between 1000rpms and 500 rpms, like it is surging. It also stumbles when I start up from a stop. VERY ANNOYING and VERY EMBARASSING!!!! ALso what is the IAC. Thanks so much, Fred.

Intake Air Controler. Or Air Bypass motor. Its mounted to the right side of your throttle body.
