84 convertible 3.8 to 5.0

Hi. I just picked up a 84 lx convertible with a blown up 3.8 in it. I'm planning on swapping out the 3.8 for a 302 out of a 79 mustang. I need to know if the motor will work with the v6 k member, if the 302 will bolt up to the c5 tanny and if 79 couple motor mounts will work in a convertible.

The V6 k member will not work. Look for a 4 cylinder unit. Its lighter then the V8 k member. Or you can try and locate a used tubular k member. I mean, If your going to go thru the trouble. Make it worth it.

thanks for the help. i can get the k-member out of the same car the motor came out of, i was just trying to save myself the work.

i did a 3.8 to a 302 without changing any k member....bolted the trans from the 3.8 to the 302 and set it all down in the car no problem.....just had to change the elect fuel pump out in the tank for a pickup and reroute some fuel lines in the front.....pretty easy swap....did it in a day!

2.3-3.8-5.0 all use the same K member. The I6 is the bastard one.
