t-5

Im planning on rebuilding my 94's five speed for the increased power and torque of my 351 what all will i need and how do i go about doing it are there hardened gears or transmission girdles would i be better off buying a heavy duty tranny?

G-force transmissions makes all the goodies to beef up the T-5...including gear sets, shafts, and even a beefed up case (which I would highly recommend. I'd contact Astro Performance if considering this route. They say nothing shifts like a T-5.

However, with what it'll cost, you could by a new TremecTKO-500 or 600 and supporting goodies...the Tremec will require a new bellhousing, etc.

you can also go to Face Plate they have everyting you need to upgrade your T-5.plus your stock T-5 will be ok for the time being if you dont power shift it.i have a few freinds that have the stock t-5's in there fox bodys pushing over 600hp.like i said dont power shift teh stock tranny and you'll be fine

ive heard that before too thats probably what ill do for now because its mostly street driven anyways Ill check into a performance rebuild in the future how much would I save rebuilding it myself or is there machine work needed for a high performance rebuild

In a traction limited, light-weight car a stock T-5 will hold up okay, but hard launches and shifts in a car with slicks is another story.

The TKO-600 is about as tuff as it gets, right now.
