Pete, I don't know if you remember this but I played with SVO mustangs for around 10 years, I learned to watch for cracks in the 2300 heads, it's very common on those little buggers.
If you are going to stay with the 4 cylinder, you could keep an eye out for a Turbo coupe,Svo or XR4TI donor car and rob the turbo and associated hardware for your coupe. I ran 18 pounds on the silver SVO! It was a kick to drive.
