Cool 84 Stang Conv. Shift Handle

Guys,

I want to replace the shifter seal that is located right under the P-R-N-OD-D-1 bezel on my 84 stang convertible and I don't know how to remove the auto shift handle. It currently has no seal and you can look past the shift mechanism all the way to the carpet underneath the console. Not too cool!

Do any of you have experience in how to remove this handle? The handle I am referring to is the one you grab to place the car into gear and has the release button on the drivers side of the handle.

Thanks alot,

Re: 84 Stang Conv. Shift Handle

79 Cobra may be right but, I'm pretty sure Ford did away with the set screw by '84. If there is none then you just grab it firmly and pull up very hard and it will pop off.
