motor swap tranny help?

4cly to 302. 302 is carb and points so not sweating wiring! But tranny is another issue.

4cyl had a manual 4 spd. bell housing looks like it will bolt up but what about flywheel and clutch will they work?

I know not to expect much longevity with added HP and torque. just looking to make a daily driver.

Re: motor swap tranny help?

Are you goin going to use a Manual or Automatic?

I swiched my 1991 from a 5 speed to C4 a few years back, You'll need a SB C4, Correct Balance and Sized Flex plate, Auto Starter, Correct Convertor for the C4 you use. Keep in mind their are several different C4's so whatch what parts you get and make sure of the balance of your motor (will be either 28oz or 50oz) depending on what year it is.

The drive shaft will be hit or miss, my t-5 drive shaft worked with the C4 I used, just need about a 3/8" spacer (can't rember the exact dimension) on the rear end yoke.

As Far as Shifter, I used a Hurst 1/4 Stick, They are about $160, but you can probably get a factory Ford 3 speed auto floor shifter to work if yu on a budget.

Re: motor swap tranny help?

The 302 givin me I think he said was 95 merc but the Intake up was gone and the dist. I found an acell point one for $150 got an intake from a junk yard and another buddy gave me holly 650 2 barrel he ran twice before going to a 4 barrel.
Is there a way to tell on motor & trans which 28 or 50 oz.
I'll most likely be junk yarding for the tranny.
