Re: 5.0 302 V8 New Crate Motor Install

CHP 347 (short rod: 5.315", uses taller [more stable] 331 piston)
Flat-top pistons
Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads (port matched to intake)
Holley SysteMax II intake
FTI custom cam
1.6:1 TFS roller rockers
AccuFab 70mm TB
75mm Pro-M MAS

24# fuel injectors (stock fuel rails)
FRPP 190 lph fuel pump

full MSD ignition system

1-5/8" shorties, and 2-1/2" exhaust w/ CATs

325 rwHP and 375 rwTQ through a T-5 and 3.55 gears

It's not the most powerful version of a 347, but it does pass emissions. This combo idles well, effiiciently pulls to 6k and will hit the 6250 rev limiter very easily. The torque curve is excellent too. If I were to do it again, the only thing I might change is the heads to AFR 185's.

Not having to fuss with emissions, a more aggressive cam and head combo will do a lot for the power numbers.

Re: 5.0 302 V8 New Crate Motor Install

325 RWHP is a great number. Probably some room to get more with a little change here or there.... your red line seems a little low, but maybe a limit of the EFI system.

You will not be able to bolt on a blower. Your compression ratio will be too high with the flat top pistons. Your probably bewteen 10.0 to 11.5 right now.

Re: 5.0 302 V8 New Crate Motor Install

I think you've got me confused with someone else. I'm not interested in a blower on this combo...just sharing what I did with the original poster.

If I were to go power adder, my preference would be a single turbo anyway...and the whole shortblock would require some beefing up.
