Parts to use...a little help....

Guys, i need some help with some performance parts that i want to buy. To do the right way.

Here some parts:

1 - Spark plug wires from MSD 8,5mm (red).
2 - Coil MSD ( here i don't know if the right one is the Blaster SS Coil).
3 - Ignition MSD 6AL and distributor MSD.
4 - Hurst shifter for manual transmissions (i guess in this case the mustang that i want use a tremec 5 speed T5. Am i right?).
5 - Clucth kit and bellhousing from Hays .
6 - Griffin's radiator.
7 - Exhaust sistem from Flowmaster. ( can i use hookes headers with Flowmaster sistem?)
8 - K&N air induction (cold air sistem).
9 - Brakes: i really don't know what manufacture use: baers, willwood or ford racing?

That's it.... Any idea what i have to add to my list?

you will not like the boots on the MSD wires if you are really close to the header at all. For some reason they dont last long. I would personally go with Taylors.

Hooker makes better mufflers than Flowmaster. Same sound, but no drone and of the people I know that run them, they all love them. As for brakes, I stick w/ the stuff from Ford since they are great. It's not difficult to run 94+ Cobra brakes (especially if you have a 94+ car) and is usually cheaper than aftermarket kits. Also, I'd suggest some suspension work since it does make a huge difference (look at Maximum Motorsports).

Tell us a little more about the car, and what your goals for it are...

Re: Parts to use...a little help....

Well,

The mustang that i want to buy is a 95 V8* with manual trans.

* = i have a doubt with this motor; is this V8 the 302cid? this the same motor of the gt's?

I want a 400hp ford V8 with a manual transmission and hurst shifters....etc...

run easy, run fast... no hondas no toyotas etc....only fords in the line

Marcelo.

If it's a '95, it should be a 5.0 (302).

400 hp, huh?

These things were rated at 215 hp stock I believe. You'll need a lot more work than simple bolt ons to get up in that range. The easy way would be a power-adder, supercharger, turbo, or nitrous.

You're going to have to spend a little money.

Re: Parts to use...a little help....

Thanks Dave,

so what i have to do? i don't like turbos or nitrous it's look like a japonese car's thing. American muscle cars i prefer superchargers....

I've looking at Holey catalog and have some parts but i don't see supercharger s for these cars....And if i use a ford racing parts? What do you thing about this?

Am i in the right way?

Re: Parts to use...a little help....

Turbo's and nitrous have been around long before the ricer craze.

Seriously, take a look at Hellion Power Systems. I'm a little partial to their product as they happen to be in my neighborhood, but for a mustang turbo kit to be on the shelf and ready to ship is almost unheard of.

Also, the power numbers speak for themselves. A stock 5.0 with a turbo kit is a torque monster!! it may make 400 rwHP, but the torque production will be well over 500 at the wheels.

The common supercharger would be a centrifugal type from the likes of Vortech, Paxton, or ProCharger. However, they do not offer anywhere near the torque production of the turbo kit, because boost is based on RPM with this style of supercharger. However, the car is easier to hook up because of this. These kits are also typically cheaper to buy and cheaper/easier to install.

What I think you have in mind for a supercharger is the old-school roots style blower? One of your best options there is the twin-screw blower from Kenne-Bell. However, I'm not a big fan of their product for 5.0 applications because of the lack of intercooling.

In my opinion, the inter-cooled versions of the centrigufal superchargers and turbo kits are better options for a street driven 5.0 mustang, because you can get more boost out of them in a safer manner...and have more room to support performance upgrades.
