Question Moptor I.D. help...please...

so...I got a new project in the garage( '56 F-100) thats gonna take a few years to get it where we want it to be & thats all good...

It's drivable & runnin' a early 70's ('70 or '72) 302-2V F-series truck motor with a C4...

but I also have an "spare" 302 in the corner of the garage on a stand thats just takin' up space...
it's complete from the Holley 4-bbl to the missing oil pan including accessories and brackets, belts, blah, blah...

here's the deal...I'm gonna rebuild ONE of these motors to use in this truck for a killer street rod.

I have NOT gotten any casting numbers off the "running" motor YET...but here are some casting numbers off the "spare" motor as they appear by the starter:

(it's a long story, so please don't ask where it came from)

E0AE 14
DC3 2J20

THIS is cast into the aluminum intake: RF-E3ZE-9425-FC

CYLINDER CASTING NUMBERS: 2J30

Where can I get some specs on this motor...I'm an old-school kinda dude...not a 5.0 dude!

My limited 5.0 knowledge tells me it's a '83 GT motor...maybe...

THANKS...I NEVER thought I'd ever have TOO many SBF's layin' round...

E0AE tells me it's a 1980 302 block.... nothing more... Usd from 80 to 84 in that casting I think...

Re: Moptor I.D. help...please...

Going by the date code the block was cast on Sept 20th and the heads on Sept 30th of 1982....Since the intake has the E3 casting number in it I would assume this is a very early production 1983 motor or someone has swapped the intake...

As far as deciding which engine to build the engine on the stand would have the 50oz balance and the one in your truck would be 28oz so the flywheels and balancers would not interchange between the two..This may not have any influence on which one you build but I thought I would mention it...
