Re: I need advice on buying a 1995 mustang gt
There were a few minor changes, but not significant. The biggest killer is the ECU. A chip does help if it is simply reprogrammed to early FOX GT A9L specs. Don't bother with tunes for high-octane on a low-compression, stock engine.
Basic upgrades for more pep: Gears, Exhaust (unequal shorty headers, 2-1/2" X or H-pipe, and cat--back), street oriented under-drive pulleys, and induction upgrades. A quality shifter liek a Pro-5.0 or Steeda is very nice to have on the manual tranny too.
As for the mileage, those 5.0's run forver if treated right. I rebuilt mine at 225,000, and although it used a little oil, the thing was in great shape. In fact, it probably would have survived another 100,000 with no problems, but I wanted more power.
