Factory tach on 92 GT ghost has left the building er the car

Yeah its dead. I want to install a aftermarket tach. I know how to do that.
My question is can I disconnect the dead tach. I dont want to remove it from the dash tho. Is it connected to the neg side of coil? What color is the wire maybe? Thanks!

Re: Factory tach on 92 GT ghost has left the building er the car

I found an article in the May 1995 Issue of Mustang Mionthly Titled 5.0 Power Quick Tech, Aftermarket Tachometer install. I won't plagerize the entire article.

First I pulled the Hazard/defrost switch out of the dash.

I hooked the white wire from the tach to the light blue/red stripe wire at the hazard switch connector.

The red wire from the tach is connected to the purple/orange stripe wire at the defrost switch connector.

I connected the black wire from the tach to the black wire on the hazard switch connector.

The green wire is connected to the tan/yellow stripe wire on the right side of the coil connector in the engine bay. This is the neg side of the coil.

Thanks to the article is was very easy to install. I submit this to help others
