lug nut studs need replaced 1999 Mustang GT

Good Morning, I have a lug nut on each of my front wheels that has broken off and needs replaced. Is this an easy process for a home mechanic or better left to a shop? I've done it on older cars that allow easy access to the back of the stud; but not sure about the Mustang. Thanks in advance.

I recently talked to a mechanic about this issue. His answer made good since. I was talking with him about a rear but I'm assuming the technique would work on a front, and I have a front in the same shape as yours.

Once the broken stud is removed, place in the new stud. Then you need a spacer item and a lug nut. Place the spacer over the lug, then screw on the nut. Use an air wrench, and run it down until the lug is pulled thru to home. The spacer should be long enough to allow the lug to pull thru and not run out of threads. Once done, remove the nut and spacer, throw away the nut as it will no longer be usable, as it will stretch out and deform. With luck, you will not strip out the lug. He did not say where to have the hub, mounted or in a vise. I think I would have it out where I could check progress.
Good luck, Ron

If you can get room to get behind the hub simply hammer the lug in. I do this all the time. I haven't on a mustang yet but I worked on many cars and trucks. yeah his idea works but has potential of stripping the lug.
