boosted oil leak on crank bolt??????

anyone have problem with dampner leaking on a boosted 4.6, I changed it before I put the turbo on and added a little silicone like instructions said but now it leaking from the bolt, could it because I didnt use high temp siicone or not enough or just because of the turbo putting boost into the pvc valve? Any help or suggestions would be great!

I'd suggest getting Ford RTV...the 7.3L assembly silicone...it comes in a short caulking gun tube, so it's super easy to use. It is some tough stuff, we use it for practically everything at work. It's like $15 or so a tube...but well worth it!!!

Oil leak is taken care of till my new bottom end shows up, It broke a rod, 475hp 5000 rpm top of third gear with 8 lbs of boost, 11.8 a/f ratio and it sprung a big leak in the side of the block, second one back on driver side broke the rod about 2 inches below the rist pin. Rod bolts held up though, it was still fling the bottom half of the rod around the crank case when I shut it off.

ouch- sorry to hear...a guy at church has a K-B 8# on his 05, runs 12.5's, I want one bad, but the PM rods do scare me- have heard about 450 the PM rods are getting a bit marginal...I might just consider 6# K-B and 5k rev limiter- I'd just love more bottom end torque for everyday driving- thats about the ONLY thing the 06 is lacking to me

Re: boosted oil leak on crank bolt??????

Took all my parts to engine builder, he said there was no sign of detonation or leaning out, it appeared to him that the stock piston failed from the preasure. Then the rod flew around and destroyed itself and the block. The preasure could have been the result of too mcuh timing and/or boost. Reguardless this guy has been building and racing motors for 30 years and was positive the piston failed first. I think if it was feasable a guy could put forged pistons on the factory rods and make 475-500hp all day long. But thats hard to justify not replacing the rods while the motor is apart.
