PI head swap

We just got the 01 heads for my sons 96 and are going to do swap this weekend. Has anyone here done this swap. I ordered a gasket set for a 01 and new head bolts. We have the 01 intake. I am going to order the newer heater hose and nipple. Any thing else I need to know? I am running out of vechials. My daughter Tracer need brakes line front to back. Galaxie is stored for the winter. My sons Mustang has broken intake manifold (hence the swap) and he just wrecked my 99 Explorer last night. Three of us are sharing a 93 F350 Crew cab.

Re: PI head swap

Did you get new intake gaskets? Get all the bolts that replace the TTYL bolts (balancer, and camshaft gears)? Also, you realize that you will need a tune and should fill the tank up w/ the highest octane available due to the compression bump, right?

Re: PI head swap

I did not know about the tune. Does anyone have a recommendation of who to take it to in the Chicago area for the tune? I did not look up torque specs. I guess I did not know the crank and cam bolts were TTY. Thanks

Re: PI head swap

The reason for the tune is the PI swap bumps the compression up around a point (10.something vs. stock 9.3).
