Starting Issue !?!

Hey everyone. My '96 has sat for awhile with a dead battery. Yesterday I bought a new battery and put it in. Car starts right up, runs for about a second and then dies. Fuel pump sounds fine. What gives??

Re: Starting Issue !?!

Fuel pump is done....

How long is this second that you are talking about?

It's likely that your fuel pump has enough to charge the rail for a jiffy then not enough to supply the injectors while running...

Put a tester on your fuel rail...

Re: Starting Issue !?!

My dad had the same issue. Would run for a min or two then die. Changed fuel pump and all is well now

Re: Starting Issue !?!

It literally runs for a one-mississippi and then dies. And it doesn't stumble and die like if it were starving out and running lean it just shuts off. It acts as if I were simply turning the key back to off. I got into it and tore out the whole alarm system that it had, thinking that that would eliminate the possibility that the alarm system was killing it, but no luck. . .
