predator tune

Okay, I just bought a Diablo from a guy on Craigslist Part # U7146 for my 03 Mustang GT Convertible ,just heard it has a 21# injector how strange, and he said the predator site could give me a custom tune for my car. Not true. they will help with tech questions thats it and its hard to get a solid answer. The cord that came with it, will not fit this computer. It is too old for the laptop but bought an adapter. So i was wondring that with these mods do i need a special tune or can i save $250
Modifications to the car: Cold Air Intake, stock MAF,power plus 70 mm throttle body, trick flow plenum, steeda under drive pulleys, bbk shorty headers, pypes x-pipe (2 cats), flowmasters. From axle back, exhaust is stock, short throw shifter.

yeah, i believe you need a custom tune, more specifically for the MAF & TB

gotoBamaChips Tuning or Brenspeed

i think one of them might be able to hook you up with a custom tune for around $50

an ERG valve delete ? i might have gotten confused for a second. but i find that hard to believe, and i'm not 100% sure either. the newer ones that i have more experience with i know go crazy spitting out error codes without a custom one.

i can definately vouch for Doug Stoddard (bama) he's a stand up guy, and writes good tunes.. and if you add or change anything, he'll update no charge. and he took the time to answer my 50 bazillion questions i had for him.

good luck

i think it really does depend on how busy he is, but i believe it's usually 2-3 days.. i ordered a complete setup from him - C&L cai + SCT X3 tuner - 3 tunes, 87 performance, 89 torque & a 93 race (i leave the 93 race in for now, i've been able to run nothing but 93 octane in my baby) and it took exactly 1 week for him to ship it, and 2 days delivery... but the C&L was a 2 day back-order.

it's quite possible that everything in your ECU is content with the add-ons / changes.. and you don't need a tune to keep the car running.. but that doesn't nec. mean that it's running at optimum performance for your setup, i'm sure you know this..

Re: predator tune

I'd save the cash, the tune isn't going to ring that much more power w/ your combo. Also, the 21/22 lbs/hr pink-top injectors are normal and appear on all 01-04 GTs. In fact, 01-04 cars make more power than 99-00 cars in that the 01-04 cars are closer to 270 fwhp.

you do not need a tune for anything you have. really the only thing the tuner will do for you is allow you to advance timing(93 octane tune)

the tune will help you get more power out of the minor bolt ons you have done though, dont get me wrong. dont be afraid to experiment with the timing/spark(make sure you are running 93octane)setting on the diablo. its a fairly conservative tuner and wont allow you to adjust yourself into trouble. if you do a tune and drive around and hear pinging just knock the timing back a bit and your good to go.

Also, what kind of dyno is it? your numbers could be anywhere from 250-270~ depending on sae corrected numbers, dyno type.. i bet youll tip the scales around 260 WRHP

EDIT: i should also mention, while playing with your timing/spark is not that dangerous..messing with the fuel mapping is. Make sure you have a WIDEBAND o2 gauge installed and working propperly before u do that, especially when jacking with global fuel.

Re: predator tune

I would agree your car does not need a custom tune. A good old canned tune that comes stock in those tuners (assuming it doesn't have a custom tune on it) would be fine for your setup. Or you can have one made and emailed to you and then use your usb cable to upload the new file to the predator then onto the car. These should cost 50-75bucks for one.
