I will be the first to Tech Talk a 2005.

Subject:
Gas Cap cover door

Problem:
Door did not fit tight against the body. It seemed to be not flush with the body.
(This can be seen in the picture below, look hard)

Fix:
Removed the 2 screws holding the door frame and added 2 washers between the body and frame. Reinstalled screws and pulled door in flush against the door bumpers.

Result:
Looks Great and flush with the body (as it should be).
Easy Fix

Next Tip

Subject:
Smoker kit for 2005 from Ford.

Problem:
There is no ashtray or lighter in the 2005. No big deal really.

Fix:
There are 2 options from Ford.
A $30 kit that consists of a ashtray that fits into the forward round hole in the console. It will stick up appx 1.5 inches above the console. The second option includes a lighter for $15 more that goes in the console storage box. (Useless really).

Result:
Even if you do not smoke the ashtray is very usefull as (Get this) an arm rest. It is confortable to rest your arm on while you grasp the shifter (I have an auto trans btw) it is at just the right height and position.
Ford has a better idea even if it is by mistake.

I have what i think is a problem with our new 06 GT.
The car has 4500 miles on it.
When we drive on trips...maintain a constant speed 70 -75 mph for more than 30 minutes to an hour. The problem arises when we come to a stop at a down ramp. I shift into first and from a stop..start off again. At this time the car bucks...like I have let the clutch out to early.
This is not the case becasue ceveral times it has happened after the clutch is released and we are accelerating. It seems like a flat spot in the throttle or what reminds me of a flat spot in a carb.
Anyone else having this problem.??.....and it is not me. i cut my teeth on a manual transmission.

My handles don't stick.
Are they just catching something on the interior trim?
