WOO-HOO! order placed for 06 gt today!

I'll probably end up getting the exhaust. I'll just have to turn the volume up to hear my tunes..

WOO-HOO! order placed for 06 gt today!

I just wanted to give a update on my GT. Talked to my dealer today looks like I'll have it either the last week of this month to the first week of november!.. Not too bad considering all the horror stories I herd from the forums.

I was quoted by the salesman 9 weeks, if it comes when they say it's going to it will be around 9 to 10 weeks. Thats not a bad time prediction.

Being from Northern Cali reading those posts concerned me, Im glad thats not the case now... where I live at least.

I was at Elk Grove Ford the other day and they have a vista blue 06 GT mustang on the lot. It made me think of you and your story

oops- put this in wrong thread earlier...

car came in last week when we were in florida- picked it up after the 1100 mile trip home, tired/wired from gallons of coffeee/nervous...got the papers all signed and FINALLY got to try one out...babying it for a while, but wow- good job ford.
picked it up about 8 this morning, but my hands are just starting to quit shaking, and my face still hurts from grinning. gotta get some sleep.
got it in the garage to do some por15 on the undercarriage, hoping for some fair weather days next week to get some miles on it- trying to take it easy, but its not easy
Love the sound of the exhaust...sounds so sweet ya hate to upshift

So it sounds like what ford4v429 said about the car droning has been solved by flowmaster. Or was that with the new muffler by flowmaster?

admin-
thanks for the links...I'm gonna have to look deeper into FordMuscle- always just browse the forums...

on the mods- I did talk to a gt owner last year that took his flowmasters off because it droned on the highway- maybe he had a 'non- mustang' set put on though- he had one of the first I've seen around here...the info on the exhaust was interesting- never realized how much ford put into this- but it is sure appreciated! only other car Ive ever heard that sounded this good inside was a friends 66-67 vette with 327 and factory sidepipes- I think the mustang is every bit as good from the inside- from the outside, I dont know, but dont really care either as long as its not upsetting the neighbors( I dont think its actually that loud stock)

for now, my first mods (if you'd call it that) will be some POR15 underneath, maybe some roll-on bedliner in a couple areas, then the most fun mod- adding fuel and miles on the odometer

On that CAI- that cast intake makes me wonder about something: the short turn radius on the drivers side 'looks' bad to me- wonder if passenger sides generous radius would tend to cause cylinders fed by that butterfly to lean a bit? I think A/F ratio is just measured by exhaust gas temp, and ends up an average of all cylinders...I have no idea of the chambering inside the intake as to if its single or dual plane type...guessing by its shape its more of a curved tunnelram with common center plenum, but dunno...if single plenum, probably wouldnt matter much, just looks like stock design straightens airflow to butterflies much better- if theres a MAF in there, would expect not ideal to have air rushing thru at an angle. Too bad they didnt just enlarge one shaped like the OEM one- would be REALLY interested to see what a peak tune alone would do stock vs. that CAI +tune(I'm kinda thinking stock with right tune might even beat it?). I just kinda doubt many aftermarket companies could afford to spend the time ford did on tweaking the little motor to 300hp on 87 octane...but would expect ford to err a bit on the conservative side with the tune to prevent any warranty issues- Ive heard the tune alone can increase throttle response dramatically.

From what Ive heard about some cars hoods lifting at hi-speed, I'd be scared to death to run a dyno tweaked tune- if airflow thru the grill is building enough pressure to bulge up hood center, its probably a safe bet theres a wee bit of 'boost' from positive air pressure under the hood...best tunes should be read/tweaked by full throttle road condition responses...track times depend on driver, dynos *might* not have the underhood air pressure, etc...I'd kinda like to see strip schart showing Exhaust temps/injector firing hz/rpm/MAF(?)/ignition timing/VVT/charge motion position/MPH/knock sensor readings all plotted together by time...doing something like 'time from 2500 rpm to 5000 rpm' in each gear- computer should be able to auto start by triggering at an rpm point/shutting off clock at hi rpm crossing- that time is real and not dependant on any outside effects except windspeed and tire pressures.
theres some real cheep usb linked daq devices out there that should be able to provide all this to a cheep laptop- might be a toy I'll have to get one of these days...would be neat to see how this stuff all works- cant get better than realtime recording.

Ive never seen what the tuners use, but Ive thought about some of this for quite a while...I always wondered why my old camaro had so much more power when cold, and got so wimpy when slightly warmed up...figured strip charts showing ECM I/O details might tell the tale, then was hoping to make a replacement using a little aromat PLC...that car had a basic system(1985) so would imagine new cars would need a lot more...maybe someday. I met a fellow machine tool builder whose brother was one of the software guys for the mustang gt's system- never did give his brother a call yet- maybe one of these days
