I have been thinking of the exact same setup. Is the Husky unit cleanable?

I checked with the manufacturers and none of the cheap air compressor filters meet the temperature range requirements needed for an engine compartment. Most of them with polycarbonate bowls were rated at a minimum of 32F.

The bowl was rated for 125 and I thought of that too.
I ran around and got it good and hot and did ok.
Dont think the bowl ever got really hot.
I could grab it with no problem.
On the cold side we shall see what happens.
One thing of advise though is to make sure you don't go too restrictive. Around 22 Hg is all the vacuum you get at idle.
I had a 50 micron and traded it for the 5 due to flow.
Is the filter cleanable?
It is ceramic so I assume I can. It is more as a separator then a filter per say.

Well just an update.
After about 40 miles I have about a tablespoon of oil in my bowl.
I have checked the bowl many times and it is doing just fine.
It has not gotten hot enough that I could not grab it by hand even right after shutdown.
Thought you all would like to know.

Another Update.
Over estimated the amount in the bowl.
It was actually 1/2 tablespoon.
50 Miles=1/2 TBSP.
