Info wanted on 2006 GT in Winter?

I have the opportunity to take on the lease of a 2007 GT for roughly the next year. It would have to be my only car, including for use in Michigan winters. It's a manual trans with the low gears. Has anyone used their GT in the snow? I will obviously be purchasing a set of rear snow tires. Is it going to be next to impossible to get through the winter, or is there hope? THanks!

I haven't driven mine in snow but the traction control is fantastic on rain slick roads.Calspec

Re: Info wanted on 2006 GT in Winter?

My 03 is my daily driver and three tricks that I've learned: Add 100 pounds to the rear most part of the trunk w/ a slight bias of weight towards the passenger side and turn off traction control. Especially the 2nd bit since in snow, your tires will always slip (especially up a hill) and once t/c detects it, it'll stop moving the wheels causing all sorts of problems (I lost momentum up a hill because I forgot to turn it off). Lastly, in 1st gear, ease off the clutch since the high ratio will spin the tires. If possible, start off in 2nd.
