Spare Tire for Front Skinnies

Anyone try to use 2 front spare tires/wheels as skinnies? Did it workout well? Friend thinking about doing it with his 06, but swaping over to a z rated tire first.

With the right tire it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, thats what I though. The Wheel looks fine, its just those tires that they put and you cant go over 55mph with them. The wheel is a 17X5.5 so we found some Z-Rated I believe 195 or 205's for $100, now time to find another spare wheel.

Re: Spare Tire for Front Skinnies

some of those tempa-spare wheels I wouldnt trust on a dolly...at work we made wheels for a mid 80's tbird tempaspare- was a nice Alcoa forging, but was so freaking flimsy you could bend them by hand...drilling the lugholes and valvestems we used to break drills as the flange would 'snap' back as the drill point broke thru...one ofthe thinnest wheels we ever ran and had to putt with the cycle times to machine it.
I'm sure the steel wheels are a bit stronger, but as they are not required to meet normal load ratings, I doubt if they do.
