Hood Transplant?

I asked my Ford dealer if I could order a California Special hood and put it on my GT. They couldn't tell me. Has anyone tried it? Also, does the Cal Special hood have ram air, or can it be modified for ram air?

Question Re: Hood Transplant?

Are you talking 1968 MUST GT/CS?

Re: Hood Transplant?

2006. I figured swapping out stock parts would be easier and maybe cheaper than aftermarket fiberglass.

Re: Hood Transplant?

Isn't the CS hood nothing more than the stock hood w/ a scoop glued one?

correct, the CS has a stock hood with a fake scoop that is bolted and taped on.

Re: Hood Transplant?

There you go. Then all you need to do is order the scoop and glue it on.

Re: Hood Transplant?

ford part# for the OEM scoop is 6R3Z 16C630-AA, imo unless it's functional like the shaker hood scoop I wouldn't do it.

Re: Hood Transplant?

I was thinking about the hood with the twin horizontal vents near the front edge - not the scoop. I thought I saw it on the CS. Is that only an after-market design?

Re: Hood Transplant?

is this the hood your thinking about, it's made by Cervini, and you have the option to make it a ram air hood with a optional kit that they make.
