HP Upgrades Help Needed

Hi Folks, I have an '08 GT/CS and would like to start on some horse power upgrades. I don't want to void any warrenty so does this mean all items need to be Ford Racing brand and also does this mean I need to have FoMoCo install the upgrades?

Also where would you start? What would you upgrade 1st, 2nd and so on? As far as exhaust goes I am willing to change but do not want anything thats really loud. I still want that famous Mustang GT sound. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!!

Re: HP Upgrades Help Needed

Aftermarket performance parts do not generally void warranties, although that's not to say they won't try to accuse your parts of causing the issue, even if it's not true or directly related. Ask questions of the parts manufacturer you choose. Use what you like. Note that it is difficult to get any noticeable power increases from current production vehicles by using minimal upgrades - like air filter assemblies, cat-back exhaust systems and other 'add-ons'. There are many claims, but track and dyno testing most often shows nearly zero actual increase in performance, and the popularity of most of them is for boasting rights, appearance, or sound change.

For the total money invested, the choice generally falls to direct power adders, like nitrous or turbo/supercharging. If you compare even the hyped power claims of 'add-on' total costs to the gains from direct power adders, the bang-for-buck generally becomes clearer. Just my 2¢ there.

I randomly chose a site to get the warranty info. Here's an excerpt from the Kenne-Bell site:
Quote:
Does the supercharger void my new vehicle warranty? No. It is against Federal Law for a Dealer to refuse a warranty claim because an aftermarket product has been installed on your vehicle. If a warranty is denied, contact the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at (202) 260-2080 or U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at (202) 326-3128 or Federal Trade Commission - Home. Additional information is available at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) website Specialty Equipment Market Association - SEMA.org. Kenne Bell is a member of SEMA.
Are Kenne Bell Supercharger Kits "50 State Legal?" Since 1991, all our kits have been "50 State Legal" with a California Air Resource Board Exemption Number. Some kits may be only "49 State Legal" and in the process of being California certified so, if in doubt, check with us. You can also check the internet at www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/DEVICES/devices.htm. Then type in "supercharger system."
Hope that helps.

David

Going FI while keeping everything else stock is being lazy. A set of long tubes, ported heads, matching cams, and CAI will give you a decent boost. Also, swap in some 4:10 gears and I guarantee you'll have a smile on your face. All that should be about a 50hp boost.

with Forced Induction the only thing that will be lazy is the competitor.
