Intake Bling Bling

Actually did this a few months back but thought you all might like to see it.
Perhaps give you a few ideas yourself.

Started as a used BBK Aluminum Plenum Cover.
Ground off the BBK and had Ratstang spray a bed liner on it he had leftover from the B2.
I got the Ford V-8 emblem from the I-net and walla.
The Liner has held up great to the heat.
The Emblem is the old 30's Ford V-8 emblem.

Ratstang is using a past customer's materials, that they paid for, on your car?
I wonder if the customer knows, that his paid for materials, are being used to improve your own personal car?

Re: Intake Bling Bling

Just like any paint, you pay by the amount the shop needs to buy to get the job done, whether or not this means every can is used to the last drop. If one can is used only half way, you still need to pay for it, as it may not come in smaller sizes. This is how it works. A business needs to charge based on what it gets for supplies. In this case, it needs to be charged per can, and not per ounce. Look at it this way: if what was left over wasn't used, it probably would have been thrown out.

You give the customer what they paid for so they can use it for touch up or repairs on their vehicle. Especially a 4x4 that goes out in the rocks.

True, but maybe the customer didn't want the left overs.

dacofa...

Even I find that statement a little bit out of taste.

I have offered my customers all of the left over supplies right down to metal scraps of a sheet bought for steel replacement. They all refuse.

99% of most car owners want NOTHING to do with any of the stuff used to MAKE their car whole again.

They simply want their car.

Re: Intake Bling Bling

Ixtlan-
that is probably the nicest engine cover Ive seen...personally I like the 'pony' on the over the counter ford part as a emblem, but the old V8 looks cool too- excellent choice on the pebblegrain bedliner/aluminum- that really looks great!

with the 'leftover paint' sidetrack, there probably aint 'the bottom of the paintcup' required to shoot such a small part- Ive bought a few quarts, it goes a long way, even brushing/glopping it on...I'm cheep as possible when it comes to paint, but even I wont dump leftover stuff back in the can...

speaking of paint- I tore up my mustang last fall, bought hood/fender/bumper, but been too broke to pay attention lately due to a disaster of a work/insurance mess, got the parts on a couple months ago, but no paint $ yet...
tonight taking out our airconditioners, putting them up on shelves in the garage tonight, saw a can of paint sitting there...musta been busy, I dont recall buying it, but theres a quart of G9 VistaBlue Deltron just sitting there- musta picked it up last year when getting other stuff, sat it there and forgot about it- yea! free paint

I'd have really been pissed if I'd bought more and then found it

Re: Intake Bling Bling

Thanks for the Kudos.
I went with the V-8 to be different is all.
Actually was looking for some crossed sabers, but never found any large enough to look right.
Paint and everything has gone sky high in price.
Supply and Demand I suppose.
I was happy how it turned out.
Was just going to paint it silver like the car.
Ratstang had some silver left over from when he repaired my bumper cover.
But at the last minute it was "Whatcha ya think that would look like?".
The Liner was a last minute "Lets see".
Lucky there was enough to cover it.

What happened to your car?
Dont recall ya mentioning a smash.

Re: Intake Bling Bling

Bumper cover is exactly what you described.
Thats what they call them.
Silver is popular for sure.
My 05 GT is Satin Silver.
