Bench Seat Question

Does any one know if a 1973 LTD bench Seat will fit a 1973 Ranchero?

I'm sure you meant 73 not 37. That's my concern, I was thinking that the LTD might have a wider seat.

Re: Bench Seat Question

I looked up the parts numbers in the parts books, they don't cross over. However, I think it will fit. I would measure the width of the LTD Seat Cushion, if it is between 51" and ~56" it will fit inside the profiles of the doors and door panels. The seat tracks will measure 12.75" at the stud holes (fore and aft) and ~42" from side to side. I removed the seats from an LTD Wagon to get them re-covered and used the split bench from my Ranchero for a week or so. It was a direct bolt down IIRC. It has been 20+ years though...

Re: Bench Seat Question

Too bad I didn't know this when I got the bench out of a 77 marque for my 79 ranchero. the seat was too wide by about an inch and a half on both sides.

Re: Bench Seat Question

Trikar: Remeasured everything just to double check: these are the numbers. I sent you a picture for reference, post it up here if you wish.

Bucket Seat Foundations = 12.75” (Front to Rear) 12.00“ Wide
Bench Seat Foundations = 12.75” (Front to Rear) 42.50“ Wide
Left Seat Belt Anchor to Right Seat Belt Anchor = 55”

Re: Bench Seat Question

Does the seat have a stationary back, a buddy had a 73 years ago with a stationary bench, difficult to get the spare out.

Re: Bench Seat Question

No. The OE seats built for any two door variant and Rancheros all had seat backs that unlocked an tipped. It appears that your friend may have had a different seat put in.
