Can Somebody ID this Ranchero for me

Its a 66 but the front clip looks like a 67 with the stacked headlights. I am not familiar with Rancheros so can somebody give me some insight as to what it might be. anyways its for sale if anybody's interested.I have been admiring it in my neighbors driveway for the last year but now it has a " for sale " sign on it. The owner is selling it for $1500 so if you want it let me know and I will tell my neighbor. Located in Newman CA. 289/auto c-4 runs but does not shift into 3rd gear. needs some tlc but nothing too major.

Re: Can Somebody ID this Ranchero for me

Looks like a 67 to me not a 66 . The not shifting could be just a simple vacume line or modulator valve.

Re: Can Somebody ID this Ranchero for me

66 and 67 shared the same body but the front end is 67 only, the clip may have been changed out at one time, at vin check would be the best way to tell. If he is going by the build date code on the door pillar sticker, it may be listed as a late 66 build making it a 67.

Looks like a nice truck by the pics, not much on trans function but a bad/stuck governer can also cause it not to shift into third. Regardless if it runs good and appears to be in as good of shape as it looks, even if it needs a full trans overhaul, that is a good price.

The dash and tailights are about the only difference that you can see on them., from the front clip back. The dash and steering wheel look like a 66. I agree with you Paul: The vin tells the story.

Re: Can Somebody ID this Ranchero for me

guys the owner told me it was a late model 66 meaning it was built closer to 67. I took a pic of the plate that was in the door jam. I forgot to get the vin # though and my camera is messed up so the pic of the door jam is off but you can see that in the slot for the year of the car you can see it ends with a 6 meaning 1966. I forgot to get the VIN off of it but if somebody is really interested I can walk up there and ask my neighbor what it is. It seems to be a solid car and I think it looks slick with that color on it. I would buy it myself but my wife would kick me out of the house if I dragged another car home right now. I got my hands full with a 64 and a 65 fairlane right now and no space or $ for another. The transmission issue like mentioned above might be a blown vac modulator or it might just need an adjustment and fluid change. For $1500 I thought it was a deal so if I can't have the car I would hope somebody on FM picks it up so we can see a resto progress thread on it. This car has potential...

That silver sticker on that door is from having the engine rebuilt and not a factory ford sticker that I'm familiar with.

Thats what I figured since it says bureau of Automotive repair. The original plate was on the opposite side of the door jam but I forgot to take a pic.

clean and very well priced! $1,500?

I just sold my mustang but Christmas took all the $ from me... Or I'd buy it!

Re: Can Somebody ID this Ranchero for me

norcal , Have any pic's of the tail lights ? if it is just a round light in center it could be a 66 but of it has full tail lights then it's a 67. Back in those days if it was built aug on in 66 then it's most likely a 67 model car.
