New heater system???

I have a '66 Ranchero that I am resto modding. It is basically stripped to primed metal, with no running gear or interior. My question is... can I find a heat/ventilation system from some late model car to replace the stock one? Most newer cars have EASY-TO-TURN rotary controls. Can I strip the controls and heater core from the wrecking yard and adapt it to mine? I will be completely rewiring the car and fabbing a new dash and cluster.

Petey Not sure on a 66 but if I was going to change out the heater box on my 65 I would need to make sure the fan and heater hose are located in the same spots or have to re work the fire wall to accommodate them from the heater box I'd be transplanting. As for the controls this also would be a concern. As for the heater core you would need to make sure it would fit your present box . Sence you are going to rewire the chero the only main concern would be adapting the controls and such to what you have . Not much of a answer, just my thought on your posted question .
