hey guys, so i've been wanting a ranchero ever since i found out that ford made an equivalent to the el camino. Anyways, I finally found one that is a good candidate. its a 69 ranchero gt. Is this a pretty desireable model as far as rancheros go? What are some things that i should look out for? I saw the car, and the body seems straight. There is absolutely no rust on the floor pans, the car has been repainted, but that could be a cover up for body damage. But it does look straight. The only thing is that the doors dont close right. It could be that the hinges are shot, but how can i tell its nothing too serious? Since there is no rust on the floor, is it safe to assume that the rest of the body is rust free. I live in chicago, but the car has always been garaged, and is originally from colorado.
Also, how hard are parts to get a hold of. Are repro parts easy to find. I have 2 77 mustangs and parts are non existant, so im trying to avoid a similar situation. What are some things i should look out for?
this is supposedly a gt model, but ill check when i get a vin #. Supposedly the car has a 351w with 50xxx mi on it since a rebuild, but it doesnt run because the headers and shift cable are disconnected. in not sure im ready to spend $3500 without test driving it, much less hearing the engine run. What do you guys think? I really want to be a ranchero owner, but i dont want to get screwed. Thanks. -Rudy.
