Re: Finally!!!

I'll agree on the acrylic enamel with hardener. I have shot a lot of it. But there are also paints you just can't get single-stage, too. And with metallics, it is kind of nice with 2-stage to be able to fix the occasional spot if need be before you shoot shine on it.

Ninety percent of a paint job is the prep, and that is where most of the disappointments arise. You know the old saw, "if you can see it or feel it before you paint, then you will see it or feel it even worse after you paint." Topcoats hide nothing, though guys think they will. They actually accent problems.

Re: Finally!!!

Jiiiiiiiiiiim, you are absolutely correct, if a person isn't willing to sand their ass off and prime and then sand their ass off again they shouldn't undertake a paint job on their own, especially a color change! I have found that feeling a repaired are with a cloth between my hand and the metal makes waves more perceptible!
this Dupont centauri Black acrylic enamel lays down beautifully when sprayed with even coats and dries with minimum orange peel!

Re: Finally!!!

Be sure you post more pix as you go. I have a complete restomod 69 Fairlane project going now (with 71 429/toploader), can't post it here by the rules. Shiny paint pix keep me sanding!
