Help on VIN Number

I just picked up a 64 Ranchero to park next to my 64 Sprint and went to a Vin decode site and it says the Ranchero was made in Feb of 63 ??? The title and all numbers match and I know it is a 64./ Feb is a little early for a model change isn't it? Will give you all the info if any of you can help. Body 66B Color M Trim 661 Date 29B DSO 71 Axle 4 Trans 3 Code R Engine F VIN 4P27F 148574 Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I'm sure someone will come up with something specific. Feb is toward early-mid production year. There wouldn't be a reasonble reason to believe Feb '63 at all. Especially with the higher production number of 48,574. Do you think you may have typoed when you looked it up? 4 indicate 64...

Here is what I found in my library to add to your VIN:
4P27F 148574
4 is model year 1964
P is Twin Cities, MN assembly plant
27F is Ranchero (model?)
148574 is 48,574 vehicle built during the 1964 model year.

Here is what I found for your data plate: Body 66B Color M Trim 661 Date 29B DSO 71 Axle 4 Trans 3 Code R Engine F
66B is ?
M is ?
661 is?
29B is Feb 29, 1964
71 is Los Angeles, CA District Sales Office
4 is 3.25:1 open differential
3 is Ford-O-Matic two speed auto trans
F is 260CID two barrel V-8 (164 HP)

I suggest you contact MartiAutoWorks for a complete report. Good Luck!
