well if they want an engine that is easy why not stick with the flathead, after all you'd have a hard time finding a motor that looks as good. the best (or i guess worst) ones i've seen have always had aftermarket blue oval emblems added on but what were they running, oh yeah sbcs?
Also they sit there and say oh the 351w wouldnt fit as well, why not try a 302 in regular version or stroked out to a 347. Oh theres kits for the chevy, well thats great just be like everybody else and buy the kit. I'm sure theres kits for the ford out there if you really bothered.
The everybody else thing also bothers me about what street rods seem to have become. Usually now they're all unfortunately the same just with a different paint job. Even worse are some of the people who own em, i remember one old guy stuck at the gas station cause his flat head (thank god) hot rod wouldn't start. I tried helping him out, and all he kept saying was "the engines flooded", well he was still stuck there when i drove back by (an hour later) so i doubt his engine was flooded, but i guess he knew more about it then i did because he was old and it was his hot rod.
That said i'm starting to like rat rods, patina paint and fast engines
