My 47 Ford Stakebed Truck

Based on definitions I think my 47 Ford truck can fall into this class. I have it pictured in the truck forum but this one may be better. Just got it a couple of weeks ago. It has a 351 Windsor with A/T, P/S, A/C & Heat combo unit. I'm trying to decide if keeping and rebuilding the original front and rear suspension, brakes, etc. will be sufficient to allow me to safely drive the truck and cruise on interstates at around 70 MPH. Any suggestions or thoughts? Roy

Re: My 47 Ford Stakebed Truck

You'll be fine chief.

Those trucks survived 40 + years on teh road before being tossed off by cheaper imports or sportier upgraded models...

Just get some modern rubber, some good shocks, and a steering stabilizer to prevent the 5-ton shuffle those old solid axle trucks liked so much, adn you can take it anywhere, anytime and be hindered by nothing.

I agree with FE, just make sure everything is in top shape. Use Modern Wheels and tires and have fun.

That is a nice looking truck! And you say it has a 351, PS and AC very nice. Yeah, do up the suspension and drive that "Bad Boy".
