So 409 Chevy's 413 Mopars 406 Fords 421 Pontiacs were not Muscle cars?. I think Ryan who runs the HAMB has said 65 is the cutoff ( he likes Rivieras I think )

The early '60s fullsized high performance cars were precisely that. Here is pretty much the accepted criteria for muscle cars:

Muscle car - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As you'll read, what are now called Muscle Cars were mid '60s-early '70s midsized cars with big block motors, etc. In the day, we called these Super Cars.

As for the HAMB, 1964 is the upper cutoff date for Jalopy Journal.com generally accepted cars. Read Rashy's rules in the classifieds as to the cars you can sell there if you don't believe me. As for Ryan liking other cars as anyone else, it's true. But anything newer is generally considered OT in posts, as the upper accepted cutoff is 1964. Were Germ were still around, you'd learn this quickly.

Jan...who needs to spend more time at the HAMB

Re: Hot Rod or Street Rod?

The HAMB does a good job of focusing on a specific type of car and if it happens to be what you like then great, if not, then people can get pretty bummed out. Its made me notice a lot more detail on stuff and I really know what I like and dislike. I dont think most people , heck not even all car people will know the difference when you say hot rod, street rod and the god awfull rat rod. To me a hot rod is a era specific car, maybe a 32 ford roadster with a hopped up flathead, no fenders and dry lakes dust all over it, straight out of 1949. It could also be a 29 Ford model A coupe with a more modern overhead valve engine, maybe a cadillac, Y-block, nailhead, or even a small block chevy. Wearing multiple carbs, aluminum 5 spokes and cheater slicks, looking like the car could have rolled right out a high school parking lot on its way to the local dragstrip in 1963. The car might not be finished or painted but it looks like the owner has an ambition to take care of all the details. I see street rods as new cars with old sheetmetal, a pastel blue 40 Ford with full suede interior, AC , stereo, power seats, digital guages, new 2008 fuel injection, ect, built for comfort not style. The rat rod, I hate it, a bunch of junk put together to attract attention. A rolling excuse for a tetnus shot.
