Boss 302 engine swap

I have a 1925 Ford T bucket with a 1970 Boss 302. The car has an auto trans. The Boss 302 has a non stock aluminum highrise tunnel ram with two Holleys. I am going to sell the Boss 302. What small block Ford can I substitute and still bolt up to the bellhousing and still use the tunnel ram and two fours? Any educated guess on the worth of the Boss 302? I believe it is called a service block date coded to 1970. It has the boss heads. The motor runs great, but I would like to keep the highrise, so I guess I will be selling the block and heads. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fred.

I would think any 289,302,351-C and W will bolt up and I have no idea on what the boss 302 is worth.

Re: Boss 302 engine swap

Boss 02 manifolds are that engine specific. You could bolt in a normal 302 and install 351 Cleveland heads and then you tunnel ram would work. Seams like a lot of work. It would be easier to sell every thing and start over.

Re: Boss 302 engine swap

A month ago some guy sold a pair of Boss 302 heads in a box for $650. The same seller also tried selling a block for $1500, but it was used like yours is. The block didn't sell but the heads did. If I have them still on "Watch" status on my Ebay I will post the link... but I doubt I kept them. Either way, when you figure out what you'd sell em for, send me a PM. I have a guy locally who's willing to sell me a Boss 302 motor, but I am always looking for a cheaper one. :P If anything I might buy it from you for a spare. I'd hate to blow a Boss 302 motor, but I am not going to say it won't happen. I'm 24 and it's my first Mustang, the odds are against me. Anywho, hope that helps some.

Re: Boss 302 engine swap

From one Fred to another...
Hi there,
New to the forum but not B302's. Your B302 bell housing will bolt to any SBF, except early five bolt 260's and 289's. A 70 Boss motor is worth some good bucks, obvioulsy to someone restoring a 70 Boss 302. I recently sold a +.030(bare) OE 12 block, cast date, 12 May 1970 for $2500. A standard bore block is worth more. So, your complete set-up, to the right guy with the right car could bring between $5000-6000, if not more. If your block was a service block, like mine was, it wouldn't have been VIN stamped and be worth a bit more as it would not need to be milled prior to restamping. Also, that intake will only fit a B302 so try to sell it all together, otherwise you might get stuck with it.
Good luck
Fred
