393 stroker

I have a 67 convert,351w crane hyd roller 212 220 520 546 cam T/wedge heads,13/4 "dougs" tri -y 3/4 length headers,9.1:1 comp, holley projection di. I am in the process of installing a lentech aod with 10" tight converter about 2600-2800 stall and a versailles 9"rear with 3:50 gears also a 125hp nos kit. I am going to do a 393 stroker also, I would like to keep everything the same except the stroker kit and some mild head porting. Should I go up a step or two in cam? I was thinking the xtreme energy 274 or should I keep my cam and go for smooth idle, and torque monster with NOS as backup? I really like that idea....yet a bigger cam sounds good too since I have the new trans/converter. My present combo with 3:00 peg leg gears has got me a best of 13.45 at 104mph on motor alone. are the 11's possible with the 393,trans/converter,gears and NOS? I think its possible, do you? I have found over the years in cams, less is more on the street but now I'm feeling that maybe a little more wont hurt......give me your input!

I'm currently running a comp cams 268H its actually a 242/244 at 50 with a 540/542 lift, if running hellish compression 12.7, before the point loss for aluminum heads, puts me at 11.7:1. I make more torque then most diesel trucks. 600 ft #. 471 to rwtq and 390 rwh. It runs low 11"s and has flat out burn-up several c-4's.3500rpm stall convertor.I run a single carb on top of a set of 185CC AFR heads. I run 373 gears and 26X10.5 tires. Just wasted a mini spool and rebuilt the old limited slip up and went back racin again.
Most don't even know about the 393, I love mine and it has been running for 4 years without a hitch. I run the **** out it and it keeps running hard.. Hope I answered your questions. I built a 347 for oldest boy and it runs in the high 12's 12.8 so its possible..

Sure,

I used the AFR 185 heads, with 65cc non-smog, with the long valves can handle up to .700 cam, 7/16 studs.

Scat Crank, Eagle H beam rods, KB 302+30 total seal rings, high pressure pump and a late model roller chain for a 5.0 HO. My combo is run straight up thats where it made the best power, I do have a idexable crank gear fms. I'm running stock length 351W rods. .0035 clearance on rods and mains my oil pressure runs around 70 psi. I run a 750 HP Holly with an Air Gap Victor junior ported to flow 325 per hole. 1 3/4" hook headers through a x pipe and dumped out the sides of the car sounds bad assed.. Regular ignition msd billet, and 7 digital with 2 degree retard on top end pull, for a totals of 30 degrees. I run synthetic valvoline oil. I run pump gas. Imagine how much more torque you may have made with a "roller" block!!!
