more 393 piston questions.

I am planning my 393 stroker and I am trying to find some pistons that are not going to cost too much. (KB364's look good, but too much for my budget)
In my research thus far I noticed the STL-H273CP30 seem to result in the same compression ratio as the KB192.
The results I have found have been comparing compression ratio data. See links below and please let me know if I am wrong. Thanks.

302 1968-72 Hyper. 8.6:1 w/63cc Sterling H273P*8
"

Thanks again.

I used stock Mustang 302 pistons. In fact they were 95 versions. Forged trw i think and used stock rods from the 84 truck motor, to make a "387" as i did not bore the old windsor. stock 4.00 bore. 3.850 stroke.

All small block fords use the same bore width from the factory, from the 289 through the 351W. The difference lies in stroke length... The 393 is a good engine, with quite a bit of torque, and able to pack a lot of power for the block size. Anyway, it all depends on if you decide to bore it out any. If not, stock 289/302/351W pistons work, you just need different rods.

I think the H273 pistons only have about a negative 6cc dish/relief volume that equates to around 11 to one for a 393. The H272 piston has around a negative 20 cc for a 9.5 to one motor. Both piston should cost about the same.

I have a set of Hypereutectic H273CP's at .030 over. Was going to use them but bought the Keith Black's instead. Email me if your interested.
Keep in mind that there are 2 different part numbers that look a lot alike there are 273CP's and H273CP's The first one is a cast piston and the second one is Hypereutectic. There is very little price difference and I would definately recommend H's no matter where you buy your pistons.

the h273cp's have 8cc's valve relief displacement and will have a neg effect regarding compression..been there, done that*********

for the most part, yes. You have to double check the pin boss-to-counterweight clearance. Some pistons are rather thick in that area, and some cranks are larger than others. Mine hit...Scat 9000 crank and TRW L2482F flat-tops. Every TRW piston I tried hit the counterweight. Broke down and bought a set of SRP flat tops, problem solved (at least that problem was solved anyway)
