427 Stroker
Anyone have dyno results on a 351W Stroked to 427 cubes? What are some opinions of rod angle etc....Thoughts on the 427 period. Can anyone tell me about their 427 Stroker? What would the lifespan be on this "weekend warrior" motor, that won't see a dragstrip too often? I'll be building a 427 Stroker, here's what it will have. Pro Topline cast Iron heads with 215cc runners, 2.08 Manley valves, Solid lifters, running 11:1 Compression. Scat crank, Eagle "I" Beam rods. Crank is to be cryogenically treated. Should be a 500HP+500FTLBS motor. Torque is what you need for the street, any ideas on how to trade some of my horsepower for torque? I really would like to talk 427 with someone here.

427 Stroker
Rick, I'm running a 427 Windsor stroker in my AC Cobra. It sports a Scat forged crank and H beam rods, KB pistons, Elgin solid cam and lifters, billet aluminum roller rockers, TFS Twisted Wedge heads with Stage II porting, Port matched Vic. Jr. intake, Barry Grant 750 DP Mighty Demon carb, aluminum flywheel and MSD ignition system. It's a real neck snapper in a 2,200 LB car. I replaced the previous 410 HP stock-stroke Windsor with this stroker for the additional 150 or so HP. It was worth it!

Tradford,
I know they make pistons now without the oil ring issue. That I'm sure is one of the two downfalls. The other being rod angle. What's your opinion on the rod angle issue? My 427 will be a "Weekend Warrior", so, mine should last a few years. That much power in a little Cobra has got to be a thrill ride!

Rick, I've read so many articles regarding rod/stroke ratio and concerns over the wrist pin in the oil groove issue. I had an industry expert who is also a good friend design and build my motor. There are several of the local Cobra guys running engines like mine and I've heard no complaints from any of them. Keith Black has figured out the ring issue. I've heard that though CHP has designed a piston with the wrist pin moved further up on the piston, the result is a weakened piston that is prone to failure. I want to believe that Scat and KB know what they're doing. I run my car pretty hard everytime I fire it up. She pulls like a rocket up through 6,500 RPMs.

Cool! I can't wait!...I love talkin 427...Gets me excited. Is there any other things you might want to add? Things like ..."If I would have known I would have done this". Any suggestions? recommendations? I'll be using Pro Topline Aluminum Heads with 215cc runners, 208 Manley valves. Scat crank, cryogentically treated. Eagle "I" Beam Rods, and KB pistons.

I'm really happy with the motor. One problem I experienced is that my Demon carb was so over jetted that it washed the lubricating oil on the cylinders and trashed my rings right out of the chute. They've been replaced and all is well. The performance is downright scairy. What intake are you running?

Tradford,
Just for the "Eye Candy" really, I'll be running my weiand 302 Tunnel Ram W/adapters. Then, two 500 Edelbrock Carbs. The 1000 CFM should be a good match for the Monster, wouldn't you think? Me and the engine builder have been toying with the idea of trying to get Cleveland heads on mine. But, I have shock tower issues. So, most likely not, but wouldn't that be awesome! I hear these motors pull like a freight train! I would love to feel my chest caving in, under acceleration!
