How to home-stroke a 302?
Guys, how could I perform a do-it-yourself stroking on a 302; maybe using 351W crank and rods? thanks...

Forget it. A 351 crank has much bigger main and rod journal diameters, its not a drop-in deal. Get yourself a quality 347 stroker kit for the 302, or just get a 351 and you'll be happy

Listen to Stanley. Get a kit, there is no home way to stroke a 302. Custom crank, custom rods, custom pistons - no stock parts available.

Cranks and rods will not work. you could turn down a 351c crank. but i think it could be cheaper to buy a kit, i seen them low as $599

You have couple of options you could sort of change things from the stock rod ratio and gain much more power. By just using a longer rod. The 5.315 and the 5.40 rods are just a couple of choices. You would need to mix and match the proper piston for you deck height. Beings you stroke now is 3.0 you could use a higher piston pin location and make more power by using a better rod ratio. Just a thought it does cost more money then a standard rebuild. But actually changing the stroke yourself isn't an option unless you own a crank grinder and you can run it proficently. How to home-stroke a 302?
Personally, if it's just a street motor, I'd leave it at the stock stroke, if nothing else, but for simplicity. "Home-stroking" a 302 is probably not worth the small gains...I know of a gentleman that made his own 355 out of a 351c crankshaft that was highly modified. It works, but is no faster than the 306 that was previously in the car. Besides, spending that $260 on Mallory slugs to balance the crank was more than what he could have bought a 347 cheapie crankshaft for.
Dare to be different, but be prepared to shuck out the change to achieve what you want to do.

I assume your trying to keep costs down. Here is an alternative.
You could classify my 331 as a home stroke 302. I designed the reciprocating assy myself using a speedomotive 331 hi nod crank. Research determined that 289 rods and KB322s will do it. My motivation was twofold, refusing to spend over $1K for a stroker kit, and avoiding a piston with the pin intersecting the oil ring. The latter has changed since a kit with a 5.315 rod was introduced, but the cost of the crank, rods, and pistons is in the $650 range. If your not looking for more than around 450 HP and no more than 6500 rpm, this will do it. Don't let the long rod crowd try to tell you that the rod/stroke ratio is too small because its the same as a 347 and too much is made of this issue anyhow when it comes to street motors. Be a free thinker and don't buy into the standard lingo. Over 300 RWHP and 300 RWTQ can't be wrong.

How to home-stroke a 302?
Just got back from a friend's house. He's got a mid--70's ranchero with a 408 home-stroker windsor. Uses a modified 400 crank, 351w pistons and modified 350 chevy (5.7") rods.
built for less than $400, and it flat out runs! It's got a set of '69 Windsor heads on it that are stone-stock right off of a 130,000 mile motor. They need to be re-done and are worn-out but they work well for an iron headed cheap stroker. I'd hate to see how it runs with aluminum heads.
