That's all I need to say.

I agree with "turbo" except I in know way shape or form would consider a turbo SB in a stang a sleeper I guess it's more of a sleeper than an injected blower sticking a foot through the hood, but now days, people know what a spooled up turbo sounds like. Not to mention it's pretty damn hard to hide a turbo when you pop the hood.

To answer the posed question I guess it really depends on how much money you have to spend. You can get some pretty exotic heads that can make LOTS O' POWER with the right set up if you got the cheese to foot for 'em. If you want to stick to the "sleeper" model then stick with cast heads that flow like mad and don't clean you engine EVER Oh, and put old rusty valve covers and air cleaner on it...works like a charm for most people.

I had a 440 mopar in one of my first cars that would flat haul the mail, but lookin at the engine compartment would do you no good to forsee that. Made ALLOT of money with that car, specially since the old ass air cleaner had a 383 sticker on it

Mine was silent until I decided to ditch the airbox and go with a cone filter that is so common on imports these days. Most folks around here just thought it was a weird looking cold-air induction. With the airbox (which was home-made from a modified 3.8 t-bird airbox) you could not hear the turbo at all, not even through the exhaust. Idled smooth and quiet with dual dynomax super turbo 3" mufflers and sounded more like a stock straight 6 than a 500+ HP 302. Get on the loud pedal and the only thing audible was the tires.

Tires were stock 195-75R14's, motor was all rusty-looking (except the compressor discharge tube) including the wrapped headers which looked like hammerdammit. Everything about that car was factory except the boost gauge and fuel pressure gauge which were below the dash and mostly out of sight (hinged so I could pull them down to see 'em when needed). There wasn't much around here that would run with that thing when I had it turned up except a guy that had a 509 BBC in a '69 Chevelle....and it was in no way a sleeper.

Back to the original question. I don't know how you're going to make a full-race 302 or any other motor naturally aspirated a sleeper. With the camshaft needed to support a certain amount of HP/torque the idle will be a dead giveaway. At least that's always been my experience.

Nows the time to make some decisions, when you setup the short block decide if your nitrous or blower and set the rings and girdle the bottom.

For pure sleeper look run nitrous and run all the plumbing out the back of the manifold and the underside. It is delicate work, but if your not looking for it. It is all most impossible to spot. Especially at the back on a EFI car, lots of plumbing and wiring.Stay away from the colorful fittings they are a give a way..

Then use the rust junky old valve covers, a good set of heads is still a good investment, AFR, or a good set of the new darts would go along ways. Or just a well ported set of cast iron world product heads..

Smokem with the best.. Now go out there a crush some ricers!

got a stud girdle and its installed
a big ass blower sticking out the hood is too obvious id rather take the sound of a lumpy cam i thought about using the stock heads and just porting the **** out of them what do u guys think about that or should i just pony up and buy some new heads
yeah the nitrus will be all plumbed out the back of the motor so it should be for the most part hidden
let me know what u all think about the head part first then we can go on and talk about cams

Heads i would go with a set of gt-40 or roush 180 or 200 heads.A mild cam with n0s should do the job. i would go with a custom cam. i would call cam research http://www.camresearchcorp.com
