How much to build a 408W or 427W stroker?

How much, roughly, does it cost to build a 408W or a 427W stroker from scratch? Something mild... Doesn't need to turn obscenely high RPM, just needs to be a solid motor that will last and make some power.

I'm thinking to either drop one in my Galaxie, but I've also been thinking about getting a smaller car, maybe a Fairlane, and dropping a Windsor stroker in there with a 4 speed. This is probably a project for next year when I've got some more money (my performance part funds have been sucked dry after hitting a deer at 55 MPH... I gotta fix my Gals cosmetic damage before I think about going faster). Just want some information to help decide what I should keep my eyes open for.

Short block 427W assys can be had from PAW for about $3000. The cheapest stroker for the 351W block seems to be a Scat crank with a 3.85 arm, 2.311 rod journals, stock 351W rods and a 302 piston (393 usually). Add your choice of heads and intake.

At least go with eagle " I " beam rods. Bottom end on these 427's are CRITICAL. There is a bunch of side load on the cylinder walls. The 351 Windsor blocks can be bored up to 80 over, so there is alot of meat in the block left after going 40 over. 40 over with the scat 4.17 crank puts you at a true 427 cubes, 30 over is about 425 cubes. My Scat crank will be Cryogenically treated, which is kind of like forging at a molecular level. So, at least I beam rods, good crank and a stud girdle should keep you from grenading the motor. I would much rather burn a piston than sling a rod through the side of the block! Just remember, you get what you pay for. Scat has proved to be some good ****, but go with Eagle for no doubts.
